Surprise! U.S. Transportation Secretary Mineta Announces a Proposal to Improve Fuel Economy Standards For Model Year 2005-2007 Light Trucks. The prposed standards will raise the CAFE standards for light trucks by 1.5 mpg by model year 2007. John DeCicco, a senior fellow at Environmental Defense, comments: "The sad fact is that this is the most meaningful step the country has taken on oil dependence since Jimmy Carter was president". Really??
